About Skylon Tower (Niagara Falls)
Skylon Tower rose above the Niagara Gorge in 1965, built with the same slipform method used for poured-concrete grain silos, its observation pod climbing skyward as fresh concrete cured beneath it. The governors of New York and Ontario opened it on the same day, and it sits deliberately on the Canadian side, angled so its glass elevators and revolving dining room face the Horseshoe Falls directly. Because it stands so close to the US border, its construction needed sign-off from aviation authorities in both countries.
